Currently Stitching: Quilted Bags, Part 2
Share
If you've been following along, you'll remember that last week I started working on several quilted bags! As per usual, I put a few too many things on my list and only got two of them finished. I try not to beat myself up about it, these things take time! And they bring a lot of joy when completed.
This was made from a precut mini charm pack, and it's just adorable. I tested out some new measurements on this bag and I think it would be great for makeup! It's long enough to hold makeup brushes, mascara, and more!
I found this super soft teal-ish fabric that was the perfect match to make the lining. I also used it to frame the bright blue zipper. I would just like to say I am so grateful to be alive during a time with such fun fabric and notions! Who else feels the same way?
I also love how this tote turned out! It reminds me of a beach vacation in New England! Sometimes when I'm sewing a project like this, I'll star to feel like I'm getting bogged down in the steps. And then I see the final product and I am so pumped! Completely forgetting that it took me three days to make it #facepalm#shakingmyhead#worthit
I chose this lining to add a pop of whimsy to the bag. It's basically two tones on the outside and I figured the dark floral fabric would elevate this tote! I worked with dark green thread to finish up the top stitches. It's fun, durable, and useful!
Last week I went a little crazy trying to get ahead on the quilted clutch collection. I got all of the prep work out of the way, kitted the necessary pieces and matched thread.
One by one, I started working through each one. I cut a few of them in to different sizes, and the rest in the traditional style I've been making. At this point I was starting to feel pretty good about making it half way. As you can see, there's quite a few steps, even with smaller bags like this.
At last, here they are! It's so satisfying to look at the variety of colors and textures.
I can't wait to get them up in the shop and share them with people!
Next week I'm trying out more new bags and doing some custom work for customers. Share what you're working on! I love seeing what the world is making! Thanks for visiting!
